We’re switching it up a little bit with this outfit. I never do monochrome, unless it’s neutrals, because of how hard it can be to find colors and textures that match. But, I had these two pieces in my closet that are the same burgundy. Obviously, I had to take advantage and try out a monochrome outfit.
The two main things to remember with monochrome outfits are one, to match the color. You can do a green outfit with different greens, but the green theme should carry from the shirt, pants, jacket, etc. And two, to pay attention to textures. Sometimes different textures work well, while other times, it throws the look off.
Monochrome outfits look put together and are always trendy. If you have never put one together before, the best thing to do is start with neutrals. Going with all black or white is a good start. Then, you can try and move to khaki, brown, or gray. The key is to keep it simple. You can always enhance the outfit by accessorizing it with jewelry and a cute bag.
When you start to feel more comfortable, you can attempt some color. Or, if you are feeling bold, you can jump right in! Playing with color is fun and a great way to express yourself. Right now, it’s winter, but for springtime, I am going to try some pastel monochrome outfits.
The Monochrome Outfit
For this look, I went with a burgundy mesh turtleneck top and a burgundy pleather mini skirt. The two colors are exactly the same. The only difference is the material. Last but not least, I added in some bone colored over-the-knee boots and my black baguette bag from Kate Spade.
I stuck with neutral colors for my shoes, bags, and accessories to make the burgundy look pop. When it comes to monochrome outfits, it’s all about the color.
