The schoolgirl trend is trending right in time for back to school season. Whether your classes are in person, on Zoom, or you aren’t a student at all, you are going to want to try out this trend. My favorite part about this look is the comfort aspect. While I don’t mind a cute and comfy crop top and skirt combo, it’s nice to trade in the crop tops for a cozy sweater. This argyle sweater, in particular, is so comfortable yet so trendy. You can have both features in an outfit, trust me.
To make this chic schoolgirl look a reality, I had to add a preppy touch to the look. I did this by throwing on my argyle sweater. While any sweater and skirt combo are trendy right now, anything argyle that is a sweater or sweater vest is a safe bet. You can also add a collared shirt underneath the sweater and pop the color for an added flair. The argyle sweater in the photos is from eBay, crazy, right?! I bought it as soon as I saw argyle popping up on the gram.
Next up, the skirt. I went with a simple black mini skirt from my closet. You can find this skirt among millions of others on any popular clothing website. I wanted to go with a darker look and aimed for black and navy colors. However, you can always go with a white, gray, or even light blue skirt. For the shoes, I went with a pair of black oxfords that I have had forever now. I wanted to drive the schoolgirl look home.
Then, to finish it all off, I added in my small black Kate Spade baguette purse, truly a closet staple. The best part about the outfit is that these pieces are all great to have in your closet and can be used again in hundreds of unique and different looks.
