Okay, ladies! Y2K is BACK and in full force. I saw these fashion trends coming from a mile away. As soon as people started wearing the mesh angel shirts and butterfly clips over summer, I knew the perfect Y2K storm was brewing. Even though I saw indicators that this trend was on its way back, I wasn’t 100% sure it would have such an impact. But, boy, am I happy to see all of my favorite early 2000’s trends make an appearance again.

If you aren’t sure what I am referring to when I say Y2K, I got all the info you need for a refresher. First, Y2K would not be anything without the icons who started it all. Icons such as Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, and Britney Spears. These ladies walked so all of us could run.

Similarly, the iconic Bratz dolls and AIM were what was cool. I believe the early 2000s was when the iPod had just become a thing, and sidekick cellphones were the phone to have. But, when it comes to fashion, all of the trends were unforgettable. Admittedly, some were way better than others.

The Y2K Fashion Trends Making a Comeback

So not all of the Y2K trends are making a comeback (so I hope). From what I have seen so far, we have learned from the early 2000’s fashion mistakes and are making a comeback in the best way ever. One trend I hope we continue to leave behind is the dress over jeans trend. While I’m sure some people could make it look fabulous, I prefer this one to stay in the past.

With the mistakes come many, many successes. One success I have seen in full force is the velour tracksuit trend. This trend started with Juicy Couture; however, many other brands made these comfy and stylish tracksuits back in the day. If you are like me and hoard your clothes, you probably still have a tracksuit or half of one in the back of your closet. And if you don’t, I highly recommend checking your mom’s closet.

After the decade or so that has passed, my mom held on to her velour tracksuits. Now, I am the owner of them and am so grateful she never got rid of them. But if you do not have a pair lying around, you can buy them at so many places now that they are back in style. For the OG Juicy Couture tracksuits, you may want to check out thrift stores, Depop, eBay, and Poshmark.

My Take on Y2K Velour Track Pants

For day 7 out of 365, I decided to give these Y2K velour tracksuits a modern twist. The track pants are a baby blue color, and it just so happened that I had a cropped cardigan in an almost identical color. I took advantage of these pieces and wore them together. This scenario is one where I only had half a tracksuit as I had lost the matching jacket in my closet years ago. I still don’t know where it is. But with my luck, it will turn up when the Y2K comeback is over.

Next, I added in this cropped white tank top that is ruched at the top. The shoe situation is the JustFab white converse look-alikes. You guys probably already know where these are from my heart now. I wear them that much and mention them every single time. The accessories for this look are almost nonexistent as I spent half the day in the library. But I added in some rings and bracelets.
