My latest obsession has been styling button-down shirts, regardless of color. From the classic white to a fun snakeskin pattern, having a variety of button-down shirts is critical throughout the fall and winter seasons. The only reason I say that is because of how timeless and versatile they are. You can style your button-down with jeans, oversized and with shorts, or even over a skirt with a sweater vest. The school girl look is in, too, making a button-down even more essential. But for this look, I went with something edgier and to the point.

Styling Button-down Shirts

I know these 30 days of outfits blogs are usually for the look and where to buy it; but, I think covering some tips on styling a button-down shirt is something we all could use. I recommend having a classic white button-down in your closet, maybe even two. Having one that is more oversized and one that is more fitted is vital. An oversized shirt can be worn untucked and baggy or slightly tucked and with skirts, shorts, pants, sweaters and even dresses. The fitted one is just great for work or professional settings.

In this look, I styled the shirt with my gray flair jeans from Fashion Nova. The button-down shirt is slightly long on me and a tad bit oversized in the sleeves, making it the perfect shirt to tie up. I could have also made this look cute with a slight tuck on one side of the shirt and the other side hanging out, but tying it up kept me from overheating.

Where to Shop the Look

Now, onto the need to know part-where to shop the look. As mentioned above, the gray flair I purchased at Fashion Nova. The black button-down top has a silky appearance to it and is from White House Black Market; however, a more affordable option you can purchase is from Target or Fashion Nova. Remember to size up if you want a baggier look. The shoes are not pictured but were my go-to pair of boots, my black Doc Martens.
